LIMITED EDITION POSTERS BY A LOCAL ARTIST FOR 25 CENTS

Art in Print is a program of Zone 3, designed to make buying art more accessible to the public. Newspaper bins around Western Ave in Allston contain a limited release of posters available to purchase for 25¢. Since the launch of this initiative in October 2018 we’ve worked with over 70 local artists and are thrilled to bring you ten new pieces of collectable artwork this winter. MEET THE ARTISTS

CHRISTINE REA

Christine Rea is an illustrator based in Boston, MA. Her work combines elements of vintage patterns, abstract shapes, and plant life. With distinctive color palettes, her illustrations emit a sense of joy and imagination. Her graphic and colorful motifs are inspired by the little things that make life enjoyable and unique.

TYLER SORGMAN

Tyler Sorgman is an artist and art educator living in Watertown, MA. He received his BFA in painting in 2015, and his MA in studio teaching in 2016, both from Boston University. While currently teaching elementary art in Winchester, MA, he also maintains his studio practice.

MATT PAUL

Matt Paul is a Boston based, self taught artist/family man/grocer specializing in lettering. He’s inspired by traditional sign painting, neon signs and rock n’ roll. Ultimately his aim is to make art that doesn’t take itself too seriously, hopefully causing the viewer to crack a smile or at least roll their eyes.

ALLISON TANENHAUS

Allison Tanenhaus is a digital glitch artist who specializes in abstract geometrics, vibrant color fields, optical perspectives, mind-bending motion, and unexpected dimensional qualities.

With self-taught techniques using just her smartphone, she creates trippy music videos, GIFs, prints, video installations, and large-scale projections. Her styles encompass op art, vaporwave, 8bit, and numerous other analog-simulating variations.

AMANDA BEARD GARCIA

Amanda Beard Garcia is a graphic designer, illustrator, letterer, and muralist based north of Boston. She holds a BFA in Illustration from RISD. Amanda is Co-Founder and Principal of Likemind Design, a custom mural and design studio in Woburn, MA, with a mission to elevate the brands of small, independently-owned businesses “just like us.” When she’s not creating, you can usually find her wandering rock concerts, home-improving, and being trailed by her eight year-old Corgi (and mascot), Pica.

INDË FRANCIS

Indë is an interdisciplinary creator. Their most common titles are those of illustrator and songwriter, but others include fashion designer, producer, sculptor, performance artist, vocal arranger, and teacher.

They’re currently enrolled in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) department at MassArt, just down the street from the MFA, and are collaborating with peers to realize their current project of a double album (late 2021 release).

JAMAL THORNE

Jamal Thorne is a Boston based artist who is known for his use of the drawing medium to investigate and visualize the nature of performed identity. With massive drawings, Jamal blends references from popular culture, religious iconography, and symbolism in an attempt to create a possible image of what our multilayered identities could look like as a result of over consumption.

SYDNEY MEYERS

Sydney is a designer who currently lives in Cambridge but grew up in the DC area. She moved up to Boston 6 years ago to study Industrial Design, and pursue her love of making physical things with a purpose. By day, she’s a Design Researcher/ UX designer at PTC on their augmented reality team; By night, she listens to loud music and draws ugly characters. In between, you can find her drinking iced coffee from Clover, playing guitar, taking pictures for her pigeon instagram account, or working in coffeeshops until they close. She loves design because of its inherent optimism to solve any problem, though her dream projects would be exploring memories, healthcare, or music.

NICK DI STEFANO

Nick is fascinated by the intersection of design, technology and people. He is a multi-disciplinary artist interested in working with typography and the deconstruction and transformation of spaces. With a background in installation and public art, he is interested in how art and design can impact the way people view themselves, each other, and their environment and interactions at play between them.

DAISY ST. SAUVEUR

Daisy St. Sauveur is a painter and printmaker living in Boston, MA. She likes intense colors, trashy magazines and cartoons from the 2000s. She dislikes rules and writing in the third person.
