ARTIST Q&A

Currently lives: Boston, MA

Title of artwork: Pool 3.0

What’s it about? If the early 20th century marked the first golden age of municipal pools in the United States, we are now in pool 2.0 where the blue splash is booming in the domestic oases. As a signifier of hedonism, escapism, individual lifestyle and Hollywood, backyard pools attached to single-family homes have swamped Los Angeles since the 1950s. As a commentary to the phenomenon, the Pool 3.0 project creates an imaginary space where the residential pools are given a makeover to revive civic lives at public waters.
