Meet Techni

Inspired by life and robots, Christian “TECHNI” Rodriguez is known for his bold black & white and primitive style of painting. He is a Brooklyn-born Lawrence resident whose artwork is a manifestation of his soul.

Using Acrylic paint, paint makers, ink and spray paint to create each piece, his work is created from his own life experience and stories from others.

Q&A

Q: What city were you born in?
A: Brooklyn, NY

Q: Where do you currently live?
A: Lawrence, MA

Q: What was the inspiration behind this art installation?
A:
Teaching the community how to appreciate street art from the perspective of being the artist for the day.

Q: What inspired the community workshop? What did you hope the community would get out of the workshop?
A: I wanted to create an understanding of street art so people could gain a new perspective on what it takes and the love plus excitement of doing it. Knowledge is the foundation of all things and the culture comes from community. Teaching by doing is how you gain knowledge and appreciation of all art forms.

Q: Where else can people find your work?
A: You can find my work on my website at www.techni.studio and also on instagram @techni.studio

Q: Where do you get inspiration? Who are a few artists that you admire?
A: Andy Warhol, Banksy for short. I also focused my early years on not being influenced or looking at great legends work because I wanted to focus on creating my own style, which I accomplished!

Q: What is your favorite public art piece in the area?
A: I think right now it would be ProBlacks new piece on the green way! He even put the purple tape in the boombox its a master piece!

A: The Alchemist

Q: Favorite place to eat in Allston/Brighton?
A: I don’t really have a favorite to be honest

Q: Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow?
A: Rixy Fz

Q: What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years?
A: That I am capable of anything I want and I’m showing everyone around me to not quit on themselves.
