Title of artwork: We’re All In This Together

What’s it about? This piece was created digitally using my iPad Pro and the app Procreate. Digital art is my favorite way to make art due to it’s accessibly and constant need to keep learning. This piece was created using digital paper textures and homemade brushes I made myself within the app Procreate.

Where else can we find your work? You can find my work around campus at MassArt, on my website at www.sophiagrausamartwork.com and my art Instagram account @sophiagrausamartwork

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? My favorite public piece of art are all of the beautiful painted utility boxes around Boston! Every time I see one while walking or driving around the city, I get so excited to see something typically so bland and boring get a total makeover! The burst of colors they add to city streets is magical and so whimsical!

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? My favorite Boston artist’s would have to be all of the incredible students and professors I get to learn from and create with in my classes at MassArt Boston! They teach me something new every single day about art and the practice of making art. It is a constant state of inspiration being on such a great college campus that fosters a huge sense of community in the art world!

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? My favorite way to spend the day off is spending time with friends and having a picnic in Evans Way Park, getting Boba in the area or going to the MFA!

What was your top song for 2022? My top song in 2022 was “The Bug Collector” – By: Haley Heynderickx

Favorite food spot in in Allston, Brighton or the surrounding area?My favorite restaurant in Allston has to be Kimchipapi Kitchen to get Korean Korndogs! If you haven’t tried them, they will change your life forever…

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? I have learned that I really love working in realism. Especially using charcoal, colored pencils or digital art. I absolutely love making my food work look as realistic as possible, as well as my portraits.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? I would let my younger self know that my college journey when it comes to my art will fall into place eventually. You don’t need to be on the typical 4 year college track and you can take your time to flourish as an artist and a student.

What is your dream project to work on? My dream art project to work on is probably illustrating an entire cookbook or to have a headline illustration in a food magazine or article.
