Title of artwork: Strawberry Squid

What’s it about? This piece as created based on my passion and love for the deep ocean. Growing up my father would always take me fishing, now I use the inspiration from that to create these works. I studied deep sea fish for my senior thesis at Massart, so occasionally I continue to create these ocean creatures!

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? Probably this giant fish!

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? Copper and Print!

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Creating art for myself, or playing video games! 

What was your top song for 2022? Not sure which song would be my favorite, but I listened to a lot of Paramore last year!

Favorite food spot in in Allston, Brighton or the surrounding area? I really love Mecha Noodle Bar!

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? How to layer things to get the result I wanted. I used to strive to use only watercolors in my artwork. During my thesis I really branched out and learned how to layer watercolors, gouache, and colored pencils to get the rendering affects I wanted in my artwork.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? That it’s okay to hate your art. I think we all go through this phase, especially in highschool where it’s hard to enjoy the art were making. Just keep pushing and you’ll eventually find the things you love to create.

What is your dream project to work on? I’d love to work on some sort of Dungeons and Dragons type of artwork!
