REBECCA SCHNOPP

Rebecca Schnopp grew up in western Massachusetts and moved to the Greater Boston area to attend the Lesley College of Art + Design (LA+D) where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2017. She currently works as the Assistant Director of the Cambridge Art Association where she is happily surrounded by creatives, and exercises her second passion – organizing. Her work uses repetitive processes, and the intersection of organic and inorganic materials to create works that explore physical, psychological, and emotional dichotomies.

ARTIST Q&A

Born: Pittsfield, MA
Currently lives: Malden, MA

Title of artwork: Life Before Death

What’s it about? Life Before Death is an extension of my series Between Life and Death. Life Before Death captures the organic forms I use in Between Life and Death before they have a chance to petrify into new shapes, thus giving them a sense of eternal life, which is otherwise impossible.

Where else can we find your work? I regularly update my instagram and website, and exhibit a couple of times a year throughout New England.

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? IMAGINE’s (Sneha Shrestha) 60ft mural, “For Cambridge, With Love from Nepal” in Central Square. One step into Central and you’ll see it.

What would your last meal be? I didn’t think I would say this, but mashed potatoes and gravy.

Go-to karaoke song? I Say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin

Favorite place for a drink in Allston? Lone Star – I can’t say no to their Mug-arita’s

Top fall bucket list item? I’m from the Berkshires, so it’s always just to go home and hike to my favorite views.
