RIXY FZ

By visually manifesting dreams, Rixy illustrates figures in several forms. Most of which, are interpretations of moments we experience, currently and in the past. In an attempt to understand our social fluidity within our imaginations, appearances, behaviors, and interests, she sculpts work that aid a sense of growth for our spirits and real self – fluctuating outside fantastical boundaries. Her interdisciplinary work range from murals, illustrations, and several layers of sculpture. All centered around the same focus of divine energy, soft peaceful touches, and want to story tell.

ARTIST Q&A

Born: Boston, MA
Currently lives: Everett, MA

Title of artwork: Con Leche

What’s it about? This character piece was made to carry a dope Civil Essence: lifestyle and self indulgence, keeping up with the general wave of communities. Included in that upkeep requires spunk and coffee, both smoothed “with milk”. Bright active colors, and earth toned acrylics balance out to support the character’s lofi footing, and include mediums such as such as metallics, spray paint, and colored pencils/crayons.

Where else can we find your work? There are a few public art pieces growing within the area, but mostly my instagram / sites!

Where do you find inspiration and who are a few artists you admire? There’s a lot of ties on neighborhoods, graffiti, my culture, and my connections with other groups. Artists I admire are Mika Rottenburg, James Jean, Os Gemeos and Frida Kahlo for their flexibility.

If you could invite one person to dinner (dead or alive) who would it be? I would invite Seth Rogen because I think we were meant to be friends.

What is your spirit animal? A Tiger – because they carry a lot of bada** feminine energy, that can be soft and aggressive interchangeably.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d have elemental manipulation – using earth’s natural resources.

Favorite place to eat in Allston? I try a new place every time I go, but it was Wan’s before it closed, for a while.

Favorite public art piece in the Boston area? Okuda’s new colorful animal sculptures in Seaport, or the new murals in Central Sq & Dorchester!
