CAITLIN DUENNEBIER

Caitlin Duennebier was born in Connecticut in 1987. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2009 and studied on scholarship at University of the Arts London. Duennebier lived in London between 2009 and 2014 when she began OH PAPA, a platform for her illustrative work. She currently lives and works in Watertown, Mass.

Title of artwork: EVEN THE BUGS AND ANIMALS ARE SAD

What’s it about?  EVEN THE BUGS AND ANIMALS ARE SAD is a grouping of work that is part of a larger series called LEARNING HOW TO CRY WHILE DRIVING UP GHOST MOUNTAIN. This work presents narratives of a woman in a car and spirits in subtle interactions with each other. This series of paintings is driven by the act of learning how to let go of a loved one in the present and dealing with the metaphorical ghosts of the past.

Where do you find your inspiration? I’m inspired by artists such as Henry Darger, Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder

If you could invite one person to dinner (dead or alive) who would it be? My sister

Favorite Season? I love a particular part of each season, I could not pick.

What was the last TV show you binge-watched? Poldark!!!
