MADISON PALOSKI

Inspired by the great high fashion photographers of the 20th century, Madison Paloski’s goal is to evoke feelings and create a story with her fashion work. Her structure and composition urges people to step into her idealistic dreamscape inspired by her love of all things vintage, high fashion, and my earliest childhood fantasies. With her editorial work being described as ethereal and emotional, Paloski has had an affinity towards fashion and conceptual work since a young age. Her background and education in the fashion industry both have attributed to her work and have given her the edge to do her own creative direction and styling work in many of her shoots. She is known for capturing the true essence of an individual through color, mood, and clothes.

ARTIST Q&A

Born: Albany, NY

Currently lives: Allston, Massachusetts

Title of artwork: FASHUN DOG

What’s it about? FASHUN DOG was taken of my sister’s precious 3 and a half year Doberman, Delta back in 2021. I wanted to do something special for her so we planned on taking simple portraits of her pups, but I wanted to give myself the challenge of “how can I make this fit into my audience and make a normal dog appear high fashion-like and editorial?”. Dobermans have been used in fashion campaigns before (the iconic Chris von Wangenheim and Christie Brinkley image comes first to mind) and I wanted to play with that with the heavily jeweled collars, as well as add my own photoshopped effects to it to really make the image stand out and fit my personal photography aesthetic. Overall, this spur of the moment image has become one of my personal favorites, and best selling prints, to date!

Where else can we find your work? Instagram @madisonpaloski

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? I live right next to Jackson Mann and watching that mural honoring Rita Hester from conception to reality was really special! I love walking by it every day and as someone that is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s an extra special reminder that I’m living in the right place.

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? @marianneradnitzky seeing her post her work here is actually how I find out about this!

What are fall activity are you looking forward to? Devouring an entire book from cover to cover

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Devouring an entire book from cover to cover

What was your top song for 2021? Keeping it local! Presumably Dead Arm (617 Sessions) by Sidney Gish

Favorite food spot in in Allston, Brighton or the surrounding area? Indian Kitchen

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? My creative process I have learned is ever changing. It matches my mood, how I dress, what I’m thinking or viewing in that time period and is constantly growing. Especially shooting and constantly being immersed in fashion, I feel like my work is never stagnant.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? BE PATIENT. Perfecting your craft comes with time and patience. Nothing can be done overnight so please do not feel like you are failing for not making it right off the bat as you have so much to learn.

What is your dream project to work on? My dream is to photograph fashion editorials (or covers 😉 ) for fashion magazines. Once I do that I’ll know I made it!
