JAKE CASSEVOY

Jake Cassevoy is a graduate of Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA. He is an artist by profession and trade. He holds a Bachelors Degree in the Fine Arts of Printmaking and works as a full time screen printer. Much of his work focuses on woodcarving and the reductive nature of the mark making process. His imagery is inspired by different sources like tattooing, skateboarding, punk rock, and folk art. The graphic nature of his style is informed through the process of woodcarving.

Born: Quincy, MA
Currently lives: Salem, MA

Title of artwork: Tiger Snake

What’s it about? Ive always admired traditional Tibetan tiger rugs and was interested in creating my own take on one. I had the opportunity to create a large scale woodblock carving and make prints using an over sized press. The original is 54″ x36″ and is hand carved in wood. Its one of the largest blocks I’ve carved to date.
