VANESSA IRZYK

Vanessa Irzyk is a painter and art educator who lives in Winthrop, MA, originally from New Bedford, MA. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art & Design in 2007 with Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Art Education. She paints from her studio in the Distillery in South Boston, where she has been for over 10 years. Vanessa has had five solo exhibitions in greater Boston area and has shown her work throughout the country. Ms. Irzyk has received a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in Drawing and is currently the art teacher at Newton Montessori School.

What’s it about? It is acrylic on thick watercolor paper. The piece is about 18″ x 23″

Where else can we find your work? I’ll be having a solo exhibit at the New Bedford Art Museum May 29 – August 11, 2019 Opening Reception: Thursday, June 13, 2019

What is your favorite art piece in the area? One of my favorite installations was back in 2015, a fiber arts piece by Janet Echelman “As if it were already here.” I also love the ever evolving video pieces up at the Boston Convention Center.
