Laura Pichardo is a Dominican- American artist currently finishing up her BFA in Illustration at MassArt. She lives in Providence, RI but admires a lot about Boston and looks for any excuse to come into the city. Her interests in art making are broad, including playing around with weaving, collage, digital work, painting, photography, etc.

Title of artwork: A Walk Around Haystack 1
What’s it about? This piece was created during a week long mini-residency at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. I worked on a series where I was mixing photography and illustration, in order to experiment with showing my personal voice in my work.

What is your favorite art piece in the area? Angurria’s mural at 112 Broadway in Somerville with the woman with hair rollers getting coffee.
What would your last meal be? Carne Asada and Carnitas Tacos
Who would play you in a movie? Shakira because that was my mom’s nickname for me growing up.
