ARTIST Q&A

Born: Rockville, MD

Currently lives: Brighton, MA

Title of artwork: Eyephone

What’s it about? My piece Eyephone explores the ways in which our phone control and cut us off from our surroundings. The main figure of the piece is totally consumed by their phone, immersed in their environment, yet cut off from their body. In the surrounding watery muck lies water lily flowers, which represent rebirth and a potential for growth.

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? I have learned that follow-through is the most important component of making. Having a good idea is just an idea. Believing in yourself and trusting the process are the most important components of making a cool idea a reality.
