ARTIST Q&A

Born: Worcester, MA

Currently lives: Allston, MA

Title of artwork: YIKES

What’s it about? I came up with the concept of this warped yikes in the midst of finals a few years back. Safe to say it is still relevant.

Where else can we find your work? New work will be able to be purchased at @unofficialtart this summer! Stay tuned!

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area?

Anything by Sneha Shrestha

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? I might be bias here, but definitely my dad, Frank Rivera. His personal project of Public Peace Works inspires me to make work that feeds my inner-creative and not my commercial creative voice.

What would your last meal be? The biggest bowl of Pollo Guisado my mom could possibly make me.

If it was your turn to host book club, which title would you choose? The Half Read Books on our Desks Club

Favorite place in Allston/Brighton for takeout?
Dumpling Kingdom, always.

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? I have learned I can plan all I want about where I want to be and how I want to get there, but the reality is life will take me where I need to be. I use to call myself a muralist, a designer, a printmaker, etc. But my skillset is far past the labels I use to place on myself. If I have a creative idea that feels inside or outside my scope, I will figure out how to make it happen. I am a designer, muralist, or whatever label fits for the day but in reality I am just a creative problem solver.
