ARTIST Q&A

Born: Beverly, MA

Currently lives: Woburn, MA

Title of artwork: Merry Everything

What’s it about? Illustrating new Corgi-themed or lettering-based holiday cards each year was a fun personal project I did for a while: I’d typically send them to friends and list some for sale on Etsy. Turns out they make fun wrapping paper patterns, too!

Where else can we find your work? I designed and painted ten electrical boxes as part of Medford Arts Council’s revitalization initiative in South Medford this past summer, and have murals and small business branding projects peppered throughout the North Shore. Find some of my public art locations on our Mural Map at likeminddesign.com!

Where have you been finding inspiration as an artist lately? Is it cliche to say everywhere? In feelings, in music, in my friends and peers, on Instagram. I follow a seemingly infinite stream of muralists, sign painters, graphic designers, artists, and musicians.

Favorite holiday tradition? Yankee Swap on Christmas Eve

One new thing or practice that has been bringing you joy during COVID-19? Gardening and weekend home projects

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? I have two — hear me out! I saw Jessie + Katey’s colorful installation unfold during my daily commute down Western Ave in the summer of 2017, fell in love, and immediately started following them on Instagram. What a powerhouse team. More recently, I was a painting assistant to Sophy Tuttle’s five-story “Interconnected” mural at the former Deposit Library. Sophy is a wonderful friend and mentor, and the combination of her painterly renderings and graphic elements are just spectacular.

What would your last meal be? Salmon Choo Chee and a Thai iced tea!

Go-to karaoke song? I’m not the public karaoke type, but my partner Jacob and I have playfully duetted “Champagne” from “In the Heights” on a few occasions.
