Born: South Plainfield, NJ

Currently lives: Allston, MA

Title of artwork:Compartmentalizing

What’s it about? As the title suggests, my piece draws from the many ways in which we compartmentalize our lives. As a result, we can either manifest a push forward or a disconnect. There are four structures with five compartments each. Each segment of color and pattern symbolizes a conflicting belief or aspect.

Where else can we find your work? You can find my work on social media @seekvenus or on my website (https://seekvenus.com/)

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area?I love the mural on the side of Exit Galleries on Franklin Street!

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? Ben Styer

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Napping in the sun.

What was your top song for 2021? The One To Wait by CCFX

Favorite food spot in in Allston, Brighton or the surrounding area? Veggie Galaxy!

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? The emphasis should be on remaining present throughout the process instead of pining for a particular end result. It’s important to remain flexible to your own ideas because new solutions and ways forward are beckoning to be discovered.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? I would tell myself to create work instead of thinking about it; getting started is the hardest part.

What is your dream project to work on? I would love to organize a series of collective installations that feature rooms filled with ephemera relating to a specific theme. So for example, one theme could be, “the day we met,” and the “ephemera” in this instance could be anything from dated tickets and receipts to streams of consciousness scrawled on the backs of napkins (all of which would be pinned/taped up to the walls of the room).
