ARTIST Q&A

Born: Miami, FL

Currently lives: Southborough,MA

Title of artwork: Beauty in a Poisoning

What’s it about? “Beauty in a Poisoning” was created digitally for an October challenge. The piece symbolizes judgement, such as “never judge a book by its cover.” Each featured plant is beautiful and enticing but can be highly poisonous upon contact/ingestion.

Where else can we find your work? On Instagram, RedBubble and my website: Missmachineart.com

Where is your favorite public art piece in the area? I adore so much of the art around Allston/Boston but I love the Trash Bandit wheat pasted around Harvard Ave and the lovely colorful works of Jessie and Katie!

Who is your favorite Boston-area artist to follow? I love Trash Bandit, JusticeEatsTrees, Pete Cosmos and about a thousand sculptors/multimedia artists!

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Hiking and sitting in the grass with my guinea pig baby Salem!

What was your top song for 2021? Wow hard…. Somewhere between Save Your Tears by The Weeknd and (an oldie) The Gardens All-nighters by The Number Twelve Looks Like You. Also anything from The Frontbottoms haha.

Favorite food spot in in Allston, Brighton or the surrounding area? Punjab Palace HANDS DOWN.

What have you learned about your creative practice in recent years? Lean into your interests and trust the process. Sometimes walking away or restarting a piece is what’s best.

What is a piece of advice you would give to your past self as a young artist? Try not to compare yourself to others but celebrate you and them.

What is your dream project to work on? Anything charity based honestly. Posters/a smaller sized mural showcasing some of my favorite things. Or working on the design team for anything George RR Martin decides to make.
